Food and cooking tips

Oven Tips : Cook with the oven door closed. A partially open door wastes energy, costs you money, and warms you instead of the food.

Oven Tips : Fan-forced ovens cost 35% less to run than a conventional electric oven.

Dieting 101

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index weight loss program is based on the gi index, a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the speed that the energy of the food type gets changed to glucose in your blood stream. The theory is that slow acting food types (ie those with a low Gi score), keep you satiated for longer and help to consume fewer food without feeling you are missing out.
It is also especially beneficial for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI food types are beneficial in reducing surges in glucose levels.

Ingredients And Procedures
Ingredients
2eacheggs, beaten
1 1/2cupflour (about)
2qtwater
3/8cupchicken gravy mix or 1 tb chicken soup base or bouillon
1cupchicken, chunked
1cuponion, diced
1cupcelery, diced
1cupcarrot, chopped
1teaspoonrosemary, crushed
3teaspoonseason salt
1eachgarlic clove, minced

Directions:

Combine eggs and flour. Add additional flour if needed to make stiff, smooth dough. Roll out and cut into strips, set aside to dry.

Note: 1 egg per person plus as much flour as can be worked into it.

Combine rest of ingredients in slow cooker and cook on low 5-6 hours or until vegetables are tender. Add noodles to soup and cook additional 3-4 hours or until noodles are tender.

Note: Can substitute home made chicken stock for the water and chicken gravy mix. Also, sometimes just use chicken bullion cubes instead of the gravy mix.

Also can be cooked on the stovetop but watch carefully it doesn't stick as the noodles will soak up a lot of broth.
