General tips

If you're eating foods out of season, it's likely that they have come a long way - try to eat food that is both locally produced and can be found at that time of year, locally!

A local veg box shared between friends is a few quid a week, and the perfect way to slash your food miles while eating good food. So if you're self-catering at university why not try a doorstep delivery from one of the many veg box scheme providers?

Low calorie diet

Rather obviously, the low-cal diet depends on the fact that if you are going to get rid of some fat, it is essential to take in less calories than you need.

Definition of a calorie?
A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. A calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise one cubic centimeter of water by one degree centigrade. If a food type has more calories, then it will turn into more energy to use when it is eaten.

Low calorie food types include cauliflower, cabbage, grapefruit, meals containing beef, and skimmed milk.
